Did you know there are six local Peoria community chapters of Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping its members develop confidence and leadership strengths; overcome the fear of public speaking while enhancing their communication skills? There are nine local corporate chapters in Peoria at Caterpillar,
Toastmasters is open to all individuals over 18 years of age. Plans are to open another meeting opportunity at the Peoria Public Library on the fourth Thursday of each month. The meetings follow an organized agenda and give everyone an opportunity to speak and listen more effectively. Toastmasters is free to attend and membership fees, should you decide to join, are nominal.
GUEST SPEAKER - Hayward Suggs, District 54 Representative to the 2012 Toastmasters’ International “World Championship of Public Speaking”
At the Toastmaster District Contest held last weekend in Bloomington, Frankfort, IL resident, Hayward Suggs from Lincoln-Way Toastmasters received first place in the International Speech Contest and will be heading to Orlando, Florida, to compete at the Toastmasters' International Convention which will be held in August. This is quite an honor. District Winners are just two contests away from being deemed the "Best Speaker in the World."
Hayward Suggs is Senior Vice President and Director of Organization Development at the Community Mental Health Council, Inc. He specializes in Executive and Management Consulting interventions, providing support to individuals and organizations. Mr. Suggs offers motivation, individual performance enhancement, coaching, training, and retreat facilitation services through CommonQuest Consultant Group.
Mr. Suggs is a very gifted speaker who is both thought-provoking and funny. Hayward, a Toastmaster since 2008, will be sharing his award winning speech with you and answering your questions about Toastmasters. Public is Welcome. Everyone is invited.
